It's Not Crisp and its Not Fall, But Let's Talk Trends.
Why doesn't Florida get a fashion week?
Following trends is exhausting, yet here I am, trying to prepare my Fall/Winter wardrobe based on 2024 predictions. While I initially planned on doing an entire article about the upcoming trends, I just don’t feel confident enough in advising others on what to purchase. There are tons of videos on TikTok with contradictory information and let’s be honest, everything is trending right now depending on who you ask. But, here are a few noteworthy trends that I am anticipating participating in.
Burgundy: I just bought this skirt and sweater from Reformation and am trying my hardest to wait to wear them until it’s a bit cooler out. Khaite’s entire Fall conversation was burgundy, so it is definitely trending upwards. These Comme Si socks, these Mango ones for a cheaper option, or this scarf are the perfect way to incorporate burgundy into any outfit.
High neck: We are having a Meg Ryan fall x10. The higher the turtle neck, the better.
Oversized outerwear: Drown me in a large trench coat, please. This one from Uncle Studios has been on my list for two years, but I just cannot justify it.
Leather Gloves: I have a pair of red, cashmere leather gloves that I’ve never had the opportunity to wear. I think this is the year.
Cardigans: I am still searching for a perfect option instead of the Sezane Gaspard Cardigan. While I love this cardigan, it’s a little itchy and I accidentally washed it on delicate and it is in a completely different shape than it originally was. Oops.
Because I love using AI for random things, here is what ChatGPT had to offer towards the conversation:
“For Fall/Winter 2024, several exciting trends are emerging from the runways:
Animal Prints: Leopard prints are making a strong comeback, featured prominently in collections by Versace, Marni, and Dior (Marie Claire Magazine).
Ladylike Suiting: Vintage-inspired suiting is on the rise, with classic, tailored looks seen at Loro Piana, Bottega Veneta, and Altuzarra (Marie Claire Magazine).
Layering: Innovative layering techniques are a major trend. Designers like Bottega Veneta and Gucci are incorporating built-in layering details to create effortless, stylish looks (Marie Claire Magazine).
Subversive Sweaters: Sweaters are being styled in unconventional ways, with designers like Fendi and Michael Kors introducing twisted, layered, and one-armed styles (Fashion Magazine).
Statement Hats: Bold hats are taking center stage, from wide-brimmed styles at Chanel to leather cowboy caps at Alexander McQueen (Fashion Magazine) (WhoWhatWear).
Atypical Turtlenecks: Designers are reimagining turtlenecks with higher and wider necklines, featured in collections by Acne Studios and Proenza Schouler (Fashion Magazine).
Personality Pieces: Accessories are becoming more expressive, with colorful and oversized bags, shoes, and jewelry standing out. Statement hats and gloves are also key items (WhoWhatWear).
Burgundy: This deep, sophisticated hue is the standout color for the season, seen across many collections and already popular in sales (WhoWhatWear).
Swaddle Season: The trend of oversized, wrap-around garments continues to grow, with luxurious fabrics and sweeping necklines featured at Bottega Veneta and Proenza Schouler (WhoWhatWear).”
Wear what you want. Wear what you feel comfortable in. With the rise of capsule wardrobes and everyone looking for the perfect basics, individual style is being lost in the shuffle. The most fashionable girlies I’ve seen lately are the ones who are crafting a unique spin on current trends and not dressing like everyone else. Check out my entire list of items I’m eyeing for Fall/Winter 2024 here.
Don’t ask me about mens fashion. It’s not happening.
Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.
